Gribbley Wednesday 19th March 2003 16:53:03 Added Battle Engine Aquila, Tenchu series, Ape Escape 1 and 2 and Way of the Samurai
Gribbley Thursday 9th January 2003 08:36:57 Just a quickie, added Ikari Warriors. I'll also prolly add Steel Batallion/Tekki, Panzer Dragoon Orta and Battle Engine Aquila when they're actually out and people've played them a bit
Gribbley Monday 25th November 2002 17:31:21 Added Battlefield 1942, Gitaroo Man, Kingdom Hearts, Metroids Prime and Fusion, Ratchet and Clank, Rocky and Splinter Cell. Phew.
Gribbley Sunday 3rd November 2002 16:51:08 Added Animal Forest/Crossing and Ikaruga
Betty Tuesday 10th September 2002 16:21:13 I've added the following item today:
Mafia
Gribbley Friday 6th September 2002 22:03:53 Hmmm, interesting. Not quite believing that GTA3 could seriously be voted game #1 ever, I went hunting through the database. It would appear that two IPs in .nl have, between them, amassed somewhere in excess of 100,000 votes (which for the record is about 10% of the votes in the database). The votes aren't obviously bots but I am somewhat suspicious. I shall go looking through their voting patterns to see what I can see.
Meanwhile, if you'd like to come forward and admit to either having sat there for days on end, clicking on the vote and skip buttons, or writing a bot, I'd be only too pleased to hear from you. Heck, if you're genuinely voting, I'll happily let you have a natter about what made you sit there for so long doing it, on this news page :)
Betty Wednesday 4th September 2002 05:36:34 Dig it. I've added the following items today:
Asheron's Call
Stuntman
Super Mario Sunshine
Dr Wadd Tuesday 30th July 2002 12:13:51 Devil's Crush is now added to the list, mainly for the benefit of omnibus ;) We don`t have the TG16 listed as a specific platform yet, but I can get away with adding it as multiplatform as there was a Megadrive/Genesis release.
Dr Wadd Tuesday 30th July 2002 12:01:47 Whoops, forgot to mention that a couple of days back I added a few items
Infiltrator - for clconway on plastic.com
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Diddy Kong Racing - For the Rare/Ultimate battle list. Can`t believe that we didn`t already have those entered.
BettyFjord Tuesday 30th July 2002 11:10:58 Oink! I've added the following items today:
ActRaiser
Dope Wars
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Super Aleste / Space Megaforce
Super Dodge Ball series
Tales of Phantasia series
Wizardry series
Zoo Tycoon
Gribbley Tuesday 30th July 2002 05:02:48 So, I found a net.cafe in Sydney that lets me spod all day for a mere AUS$3. Bless their cotton socks, I don't think they expected people to abuse it as I have over the last two days. This is because I've just added some fairly substantial functionality to the site. If you look down at the bottom link bar, you'll see that battle lists has appeared from nowhere. Please, play but don't break, eh? It's still sort of beta.
BettyFjord Friday 26th July 2002 04:30:28 I added the Battletoads series.
Dr Wadd Thursday 25th July 2002 15:56:44 Just one game added today, but considering how much of my time it has managed to eat over the last few days I figured it deserved an entry - Namco's scarily addictive Mr Driller.
Gribbley Wednesday 17th July 2002 22:46:07 Another thank you is due. Edge magazine made us their website of the month and almost said nice things about us :)
Thank you Edge.
BettyFjord Wednesday 17th July 2002 06:02:50 Oink! I've added the following items today:
Atic Atac
Densha de go series
Dune 2
Ecco the Dolphin series
Killer Instinct series
Little Big Adventure
Rally X
Skool Daze/Back To Skool
Snatcher
Star Ocean series
Thunderblade
Wild Arms
Gribbley Sunday 14th July 2002 22:17:09 Well, we've definitely had a bit of a blip in traffic, so I thought I'd just record for posterity the state of the score chart as it was for a month or so, before things started moving again.
Final Fantasy I-VI was #1 for quite a long time, due almost solely to the efforts of one person. I don't know who you are, but whoever was sitting there in Rutgers university, plugging away ceaselessly until you moved FF to the top, above Zelda, respect to your efforts. I thought about reseting the scores a bit but you clearly felt very strongly about it :)
The NES Zeldas were #2 and GTA3 was #3 for quite a while too.
It's also worth saying that with all this recent activity, there's been a bit of a flood of (entirely sensible) game addition suggestions. I'll see if I can't do something about it, but I am spodding from netcafes in Australia, so please understand if things aren't immediate.
Gribbley Friday 12th July 2002 22:57:20 Just thought I'd say a big thank you to mame.dk for sticking a link to us on their news section. No doubt that's where a lot of you came from :)
The DB is slowly ticking over as well, recent additions (thanks to Betty) have been Neverwinter Nights and Eternal Darkness
Dr Wadd Friday 24th May 2002 11:31:28 Regular viewers will have noticed that there hasnt been much progress on adding games to the site recently, mainly because Gribbley is currently in Vietnam on the start of a 6month tour of Asia, Australasia and the US.
So, this is just to let everyone know that more games will be added shortly. Having a browse of the comments section there are some excellent suggestions for inclusion. With so many games to enter some will always get missed in the first round, although I should probably be banging my head against the wall right now for having overlooked Seaman in the first round. Any game featuring Leonard Nimoy cant be bad, and thats a fact.
Gribbley Thursday 2nd May 2002 06:36:28
Well, for the last few days the top 4 has been pretty stable at NES Zelda, SNES Zelda, NES Mario and SNES Mario, but when I got up this morning, lo! A change!
We have, atm, NES Zelda, SNES Zelda, Half Life and FFs I-VI in first to fourth place. Wonder how long that'll last.
Gribbley Monday 29th April 2002 16:57:31 Another quick top ten, because it's changing so rapidly atm:
1) NES Zelda
2) SNES Zelda
3) Super Mario World
4) Half-Life
5) Doom & Doom 2
6) Mario 1-3
7) Wolf3d (lowest it's been in a while)
8) Soul Calibur (this one's been creeping up slowly for a while now)
9) Final Fantasy I-VI
10) Super MarioKart (this one's been sneaking up a fair bit, too)
Betty & Fuju Monday 29th April 2002 14:50:02 We've changed the Top 30 Weighted Scoring algorithm so that games with fewer than 20 votes are not listed in the rankings.
Gribbley Monday 29th April 2002 13:13:19
Well, it would appear that penny arcade kindly linked to us and many of you came from there. This has caused a quite radical shift in the scoring, so I thought I'd snapshot it now.
Tetris has been dethroned!
Ignoring the recently added Spy Hunter and Super Smash Brothers (How did we forget them?), the top 7 looks like this:
NES Zelda
Super Mario World
Wolf3d
GTA3
Tetris
Though it's possible SSB and Spy Hunter will stay up there, they're just getting lucky atm because the current weighting algorithm doesn't take into account the number of total votes a game has. This'll get ironed out soon enough, I suspect.
Betty & Fuju Saturday 27th April 2002 08:56:02 We've adjusted the weighted scoring algorithm so the scores range from zero to 100. The votes are still weighted 100 for and 75 against.
Gribbley Saturday 27th April 2002 07:55:42
w00p! Well, thank you everyone for playing with the toy so far. All roughly 500 of you.
The results have started to shake out a bit, after an alarming time when Mortal Kombat was top of the list for a while, we had Counterstrike there for a good long time, with GT3 bringing up the rear. Then we had a bit of a sea change and Tetris, Mario and Sonic started sneaking in. Here's the top 5 as it stands now:
1) Tetris
2) Sonic
3) Wolf 3d
4) Super Mario World
5) Counterstrike
Gribbley Thursday 25th April 2002 10:46:07
Okay, we're going live with 496 games in the database. Just shy of 500 and ugly for it, I'll agree, but I bet we'll blip over 500 before the day is out.
Here are some stats culled from the votes database after the people testing and pumping data into it had played for a while:
Tetris was the overall winner with a weighted score of 97.31, Puzzle Bobble was second with 88.33
In a battle of the 3d beat-em-ups, things looked like this:
Soul Calibur: 84.78
Tekken: 48.53
Virtua Fighter: 28.41
Dead or Alive: 20.45
Bit of a personal one here, Populous vs Black and White:

Halflife: 37.78
Counterstrike: 20.45
Unreal Tournament: -26.39 (oops)
In F-Zero vs Wipeout, we have a close call:

Final Fantasy VII-X: 12.5
